Kithulgala (Kitulgala) is a lush rainforest town in Sri Lanka’s wet zone, set along the Kelani River. It’s best known as the country’s top white-water rafting destination, offering adventure activities like canyoning, jungle trekking, and waterfall abseiling. The area is rich in biodiversity and close to the Makandawa Forest Reserve. Kithulgala also has cultural and historical value as a filming location for The Bridge on the River Kwai and is near Belilena Cave, an important prehistoric site.
